Frequently Asked Voiceover Questions.

  • Wow! Tough crowd!

I mean, I like to think so with nearly fourteen years of professional voiceover experience, working with major global brands.

    BUT:

    1. No one likes a show-off!

    2. Don’t take my word for it! See my voiceover client testimonials here.

    3. If you’re a risk-averse person like me, and like to try before you buy - why not email me to request a free voiceover demo.

  • Sure do! I offer same-day voiceover delivery, with most projects delivered within 24 hours from my professional home studio.

Just email me your voiceover script, your timescale and we’ll go from there.

  • Yes I am, I record daily from my own broadcast quality studio.

Recording voiceovers from my studio can be a cost effective, fast way of working together, but if you have a particular favourite recording studio in Edinburgh, Glasgow or London then I’m more than happy to travel.

  • Most definitely and at no extra cost!

I can connect to you from my broadcast quality studio via Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Cleanfeed, Source Nexus… however you like.

  • Lovely news, you can find all my downloadable reels on my voicereels page or if you’d like a bespoke demo then just email me.

  • My Scottish accent is often described as ‘neutral Scottish’, meaning it’s not particularly area distinctive and I voice campaigns across Scotland, the UK, Europe, the USA and beyond. Other descriptions of my accent are ‘Scottish east coast’ or ‘Scottish central belt’.

But to go more granular, I was born in Fife (between Edinburgh and Dundee) and now live in Edinburgh, so I have the ability to strengthen my Scottish accent to cover these regions too.

  • I can record almost any voiceover genre you can think of. Over the past thirteen years I’ve recorded TV, radio, cinema commercials, corporate narration, IVR, radio drama, audio description, ADR, audio tours, animation, video games, transport announcements, imaging, Voice of God, children’s’ audiobooks, lifts, tills... the lot!!

If you’d like a bespoke voiceover demo, just email me.

  • Sure can. I hold a BA (Hons) degree in Acting, so recording in different accents is part of my vocal toolbox.

Along with my native Scottish accent, I record voiceovers daily in a southern English accent. Also known as ‘RP’ or a ‘general British accent’ if you’re from outside the UK.

I can also offer general American, scouse, cockney and Essex accents for one-liners and short scripts.

  • I am indeed an Edinburgh based voiceover artist. I usually record from my professional home studio, but I’m more than happy to travel to studios in Edinburgh, Glasgow or London.

But, when it comes to voiceover projects and clients, I offer my voiceover services across the globe and regularly work with UK, European and American based voiceover clients.

  • My skills lie in everything voice.

Voicing is what I do best and although I always clean up the files before I send them to you, if you’d like any extra ‘fancier’ editing (e.g. adding music, sound effects, extensive de-breathing and mastering) I like to get an audio editing expert on the case. Usually this costs an additional £30.00 + VAT.

If you’re still looking for the right music for your project, I’d recommend browsing the Beats Bakery library. Feel free to mention my name.

  • If this is your first time working with a Voiceover Artist, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! Or even if you’re a seasoned pro and you need anything in the process explained or talked through then drop me an email and we can go from there. Everyone has their own style of working.

Before we even get to quoting stage I need to understand your project.

Some areas to think about providing me with are:

    • The genre of your script (e.g. is it a commercial, e-learning, audio tour, on-hold, ADR, animation or game?)

    • The rough word count.

    • Where the project is going to be heard (e.g. is it an internal training video or will it be broadcasting on radio, TV or online?).

    • Your deadline.

    • If you’d like me to self-record or if you want to direct me live.

    • Your rough budget.

If you don’t have some of this information or are undecided I can provide you with various options.

  • Every voiceover artist sets their own rates, which vary greatly depending on the genre of the voiceover.

Usually, there is a one-off recording fee, plus a fee for the use of the voice (although this doesn’t apply for internal corporate narration, on-hold and some radio commercials, imaging work).

The use part of the fee is worked out based on things like where the voiceover will air, how long it will be used for, the geography covered and the audience reach. Normally, the more listeners hearing the voice, the more the voiceover project costs.

So as you can see, there are a lot of factors at play when giving a voiceover costing. If you’d like to use my voice just email me so I can find out about your project and give you an accurate quote.

If you want to do some research and get a general idea of voiceover pricing for different genres and geographies I recommend following this link to Gravy For The Brain’s Voiceover Rate Guide.

For TV rates see UseFee.TV and enter the TVRs to calculate the usage cost. Recording fee is on top of this.

  • My standard voiceover payment terms are 30 days from supplying the invoice. Late payment may be subject to Statutory Interest. No refunds after payment has been made.

  • Like the millennial I am, I am ALWAYS near a screen, but as I’m in and out of sessions all day it’s best to email me at blanche@blancheanderson.com

    Look forward to speaking!

  • I can indeed. The voiceover world is a small one and I have a plethora of talented voice-over colleagues.

But, as a regional female voiceover artist myself, I’ll start with some fellow regional accent voiceovers:

Noni Lewis is a talented Welsh Voiceover Artist - so talented she voices in English AND Welsh language! And if that’s not enough, Noni is a trained actor, writer and director. Find out more here.

Need an authentic Northern Irish voiceover? Nicola Redman is your gal. And to add to the skillset, Nic is also a fabulous Vocal Coach. Visit her website to learn more.

James Miller is a young, conversational, British male Voiceover Artist, with a neutral Midlands accent. James offers same-day voiceover sessions from his fabulous broadcast quality studio. Learn more here.
