Happy Voiceover Birthday!

A very happy voiceover birthday to ME - fourteen years of being a professional Scottish voiceover artist.

So let’s condense fourteen years into six slides and discover how I became a full-time voice artist, with a broadcast quality studio.

After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Acting from The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, I moved to London and started pursuing acting work. I created my first voiceover reel and booked my first national radio campaign 📻

I continued auditioning for acting roles, but voiceovers started to take off. I found I was auditioning less and recording more. I worked very hard to build my client list.

I started sharing a studio in Soho with some other voice artists and built a small studio at home. I was recording more and more. Commercial, corporate and IVR recordings started to become my daily bread-and-butter voiceover work.

While COVID was difficult for lots of reasons, it actually helped my career massively as a lot of clients started seeking voices with established home studios. I started working more and more in other genres - gaming, animation, audio description, you name it! I upgraded my studio to the one I have now - a fully insulated sound studio, with acoustic treatment.

It was time for a big change - I moved to beautiful Edinburgh, to be closer to my family. My business continued to grow.

Moving my giant vocal booth up with me, was heaps of fun! 😳

And here I am now, recording voiceovers every day across every genre you can think of - bringing scripts to life for a living.
